On the pond next to the tennis court

I met the old guy who owns the pond and chatted to him. He told me that originally there were two greylags, but one of them got caught by a fox when the pond was frozen over. The greylags were not accepted at first by the domestic geese on the pond, but now are, albeit not at the top of the pecking order. Interestingly I found out afterwards that domestic geese are derived from greylags
